Alex Amorosi - Professional Yoga Instruction

COMING THIS SPRING

EXPERIENTIAL ANATOMY
AND
PHYSIOLOGY OF YOGA WITH ALEX!

Learn how to create YOUR yoga! Join Alex and Marvin the Skeleton for a three-day, in-depth study of anatomy and physiology as they apply to teaching and practicing yoga asana. You will learn to use the ground rules of bio-mechanics in order to teach innovative, safe, and inspired classes. We will discuss the major tissues of the body and how yoga affects their health and well-being. We will also consider the major muscles and bones involved in a yoga practice and alignment, and go beyond muscles and bones to discuss the endocrine and nervous systems and their relationship to the chakras and nadis of Yogic Energetic Anatomy. We will explore how to sequence classes for different moods, energy levels, and physical capabilities. Finally, we will discuss how to work confidently with common injuries.

This course is also useful for serious yoga practitioners who are interested in deepening their practice or in developing a home practice.

Each day will begin with lecture, discussion, and demonstration and conclude with a powerful yoga practice that will allow you to feel and experience all the topics covered in lecture.

Teacher Mentoring Programs

Alex offers mentoring programs for newer teachers who are looking to refine their teaching skills and begin developing their own flavor of teaching. This course is tailored to each teacher's specific goals but commonly includes intensive studies of applied anatomy and physiology, assisting yoga poses, ethics of teaching, philosophical studies, vocal and physical cuing of asana, and meditation. This program is a serious commitment and will include self-study and at home assignments every week.
